Welcome to DPAS

The Department of Physician Assistant Studies, School of Medical Sciences was established to train Physician Assistants (Medical) to meet the manpower needs of the Government of Ghana’s commitment to a rapid expansion in the Ghana Health Services. The Department focuses on training the middle level manpower in medicine to bridge the high doctor to patient ratio in Ghana. The department runs a four-year BSc. Physician Assistant Studies programme, and currently has about 420 students, having graduated the first batch of 64 students in 2019.

The Department consists of academic and non-academic staff responsible for the running of the department. Courses in the department are taught by Lecturers in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies, School of Medical Sciences (SMS) and Lecturers with relevant experience from cognate Departments in the University. The Department currently has 10 full–time Academic Senior Members (ONE on study leave), and supported by over 30 Part-time Lecturers. To read more about us, click here. Dean Awarded Outstanding Faculty Members

The School of Allied Health Sciences has honoured 25 lecturers nominated by students for their outstanding contributions to the school. Their names are listed below.

2023 Dean's Award Ceremony

The School of Allied Health Sciences has rewarded a total of 37 students for their remarkable academic performances during the 2022 Academic Year at this year’s Dean's Award Ceremony. The ceremony took place at Auditorium 900.

The Dean's Award ceremony is held yearly to celebrate students who have obtained a CGPA of 3.6 and above at Levels 200 to 400.

The awardees received certificates and undisclosed cash prizes for their accomplishments. The names of the awardees are below.
